It's Queensland Strawberry Season.

5 Sep 2019 11:46 AM It's Queensland Strawberry Season.

My friends Suzie and Mike had a weekend on the Sunshine Coast and picked their own berries at Strawberry Fields.

This time of year, my fridge and freezer (yes I always buy too many) are full of strawberries. Queensland strawberries are becoming sweeter every year and the industry is working hard to keep up the supply and standard.

The Sunshine Coast farm is located along the old Cob & Co Route, now called Laxton Road, Palmview and is just east of Aussie World off the Bruce Highway. The farm has been run by the Carmichael Family since 1980, and has been open to the public most of that time. The farm is now open all year, with the picking season running from June to November. It has recently had a major renovation and now includes a new amenities block & cafe with alfresco dining.

Strawberry Fields Cafe has traditional homemade ice-cream, delicious fresh strawberries and cream, choc dipped strawberries, parfaits, pancakes and so much more. Suzie chose the to die for cheesecake, superbly pink, piled high with a swirl of cream and crowned with a perfect strawberry.
